A reckless driver in Sydney, Australia, was caught driving his Ferrari at 180 kmph in an 80 kmph zone on Christmas Eve.
According to Daily Mail, the 24-year-old man drove his $300,000 supercar 100kmph over the speed limit on Syd Einfeld Drive at Bondi Junction just after midnight on Monday in a vehicle that was not registered to him.
The Chester Hill native tested negative to an alcohol and drug test and was charged with over-speeding by over 45kmph and drive in a speed dangerous to the public. He is set to appear at Waverley Local Court on January 22 next year.
New South Wales (NSW) Police initiated 'Operation safe Arrival' urging drivers to take caution over the Christmas period and will remain in force until January 1. "We know everyone today is trying to finish work, fit the last-minute shopping in as well as getting to their Christmas destinations," said highway patrol assistant commissioner, Michael Corboy.
Corboy added, "I would urge everyone to consider getting a good night's sleep and extra time to get to your destination." In spite of this, NSW police reported 5,883 infringements across the state with 3,502 speeding fines, 183 drink-driving charges and two deaths.
Recently, a 19-year-old woman from Narrandera, Sydney, was killed in a car crash on Saturday.
