A number of UAE schools are celebrating their best-ever results for the school-leaving International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP).
As many as 50 schools in the UAE currently offer the programme, which is one of the highest-regarded school qualifications accepted by leading universities worldwide.
Even though results of the exams will be officially announced today afternoon, schools in the UAE started receiving the outcomes on Sunday evening.
More than 4,000 schools teach the IB curriculum to more than a million pupils around the world.
This year's cohort achieved record results - in both the pass rate and average points - for seven GEMS Education schools.
Three students from GEMS achieved the perfect score of 45 - putting them in top performing one per cent across the world.
GEMS students achieved an average pass rate of 94.5 per cent and average point score of 34.
Meanwhile, among other schools which performed well this year is Global Indian International School (GIIS), whose students have secured top marks.
Two students scored 45 points and seven scored 43 while four scored 42 out of 45. The school average is 36.
The 2020 examinations - scheduled between April 30 and May 22 for Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme candidates - were cancelled to stem the spread of coronavirus.
For this year's results, students have been assessed on their coursework, mocks and other evidence, based on which they have been awarded grades.
This is a developing story and will be updated during the course of the day.
