Two men have been arrested for the attempted rape and robbery of a woman in Dubai.
The 40-year-old Russian victim had met an Arab woman at a hotel bar overlooking the canal in Business Bay area, as per Emarat Al Youm report.
Around 4am, the went to smoke Shisha at a nearby cafe. Sometime later, the two women were picked up by three Arab men. The first accused was driving the car, while the second accused sat beside her.
After dropping off the woman and the front passenger, she asked the two accused to drop her off at her home in Sheikh Zayed Road.
The driver proceeded to drive around and took her to an unfamiliar area.
Alarmed, she told him to return her to the Shisha place or else she would inform the police.
The first accused drove into a sandy area near a gas station, then reached back, pulled her hair and punched her in the head.
The second accused took her phone away.
He told her she had to sleep with him if she wanted to go home, but she resisted even as he tore her clothes.
After some time, he gave up and pushed her out of the car.
They sped off with her bag and mobile phone.
The victim saw some workers nearby at a construction site and called the police.
When they asked her to describe her attackers, she used her skills as an artist and draw an accurate representation which they used to identify the men.
Police used CCTV footage to track down the car, a rental from Ajman, which the first accused had taken from his brother.
They arrested him and his accomplice in Nuaimiyah area. Both confessed to attacking her and taking her bag, which they threw away after discarding her passport.
The next hearing was scheduled for February 24.
