Huge piles of pornographic CDs were recently seized in a series of raids and inspections in Sharjah, a top official from the emirate’s police said. Gangs were caught making several copies of the CDs that were reportedly produced in an Asian country.
These pirated CDs, the Sharjah Police said, were being sold particularly at industrial areas.
The authorities have also been cracking down on gangs that are promoting porn online. On Tuesday, they urged parents to keep an eye on children who are spending a lot of time on the Internet.
“Beware of the cybercriminals who may give kids access to pornographic movies. Monitor children’s Internet activity and online purchases and make sure they are not getting such videos,” an official of the Sharjah Police said.
In another report issued by the Anti-Organized Crime Department of the police, a number of cases of child sexual abuse have been recorded in the emirate, prompting an advisory that urges residents to be vigilant. “Help keep kids safe by immediately reporting any incident of child abuse,” the police said.
