The late UAE founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the hope of the Emirates and the UAE is the hope for the region. This is why the UAE named its Mars mission as Hope Probe, said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The statement was made in a video shared by Sheikh Mohammed on Twitter ahead of the arrival of the UAE’s Mars mission at the Red Planet on Tuesday, February 9.

“Sheikh Zayed was the hope of the Emirates. The Emirates today is the hope of the region. We don’t know despair or the impossible. That’s why we chose the name 'Hope Probe'. Our youth are the hope for the Arab and Islamic regions. The dream is closer,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

“Sheikh Zayed, may his soul rest in peace, said something unforgettable. He said it is the ‘youth who will lead this country towards the top. Hope (probe) will make the Arab dream come true,” added the Dubai Ruler.

The video also contained statements of the late Sheikh Zayed where the UAE’s founding father said: “It is our duty to do the impossible… and do things that make people happy.

“We aspire to be proactive. Our youth strive to be the best and lead with integrity. That is what we aspire – boundless ambitions. We believe that hard work prevails… Persistence to work, persistence to move forward is to be productive. Our homeland will achieve its glory with its people,” said the founding father.

He told the country’s youth that they’re the wealth of the nation. “Don’t waste this wealth, protect this wealth,” he said.
