The hotline during its first year received 12,216 complaints, queries and suggestions about the municipal services.

Director of Communication Nada Al Suwaidi said the hotline was not just a phone line but had been enhanced and developed to communicate with the public through all kinds of methods, including smart phones and YouTube to provide the best service.

The 993 line has helped solve all kinds of issues related to municipal services. The hotline employees communicated with emergency sections to immediately address any issue received which they followed up till it was solved, Al Suwaidi said.

Emergency section employees were well-trained to respond to any emergency — even in some cases that were not the specialisation of the municipality, she said.

After solving issues, the employees at the hotline send SMS messages to complainants to inform them that their issues had been resolved.

Al Suwaidi also urged the public to use all kinds of social media such as Facebook, Twitter , Google and Instagram to communicate with the municipality.
