 A woman was seriously injured in an accident that took place on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road early on Sunday. The woman crashed her car into a truck that was parked on the road shoulder.
The accident was reported at 3:00am near the Mirdif City Centre bridge.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the General Department of Traffic, said the truck driver told the police that he had parked his truck on the road shoulder after it developed a technical problem.
The woman was speeding at the time of the crash, the police said.
Today marked the first day after the implementation of new speed limits on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed and Emirates roads. The police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) had reduced the speed limits from 120km/h to 110km/h to reduce the number of accidents seen on these roads.
