Inspired by the kind act displayed by the rulers of UAE that saved the life and nest of a houbara bustard bird, two little school-going sisters have also taken it upon themselves to protect a bird's nest in their neighbourhood.

Thirteen-year-old Isha Fazlu and her younger sister Eva (8), saw a video on Khaleej Times website where His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, came together to help a bird near a construction site in Dubai.
The 'rescue mission' took place in April 2017, where Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Mohamed ordered to shift a construction project to another area to protect the bird and her eggs. Their father Fazlu Rahman, a resident of Springs, Dubai, told Khaleej Times, "The girls spotted a small unused box inside the car porch. We were cleaning the car porch up, and when we heard sounds coming from the box, we stopped," he said.

The box contained two newly-hatched baby birds and one egg. Since the mother bird was nowhere in sight, Fazlu asked his daughters to keep away from the nest. "I've heard that mothers abandon their bird babies when they are too close to humans." Later, the family spotted cats circling the box and fearing that the cats would eat the birds, they kept the box near their front door and began caring for them.
The sisters' have named the birds 'Blair' and 'Sally'. Isha said, "I love all animals and was very inspired by the Dubai Ruler and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's kind gesture. I want to help these birds the same way the rulers' rescued them."
"We can see the mother bird circling our house now. The girls have been feeding the birds rice, banana and water. We are worried for the birds because it is scorching during the daytime," he added. He also said, "It will be great if Dubai Municipality, animal protection services would take care of the birds so that the cats do not hurt them."
