The foundation stone for a new state-of-the-art shopping mall was laid in Silicon Oasis on Wednesday by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of UAE Civil Aviation and Chairman, Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines and Group, in the presence of officials from the two joint venture partners, Silicon Oasis Authority and Lulu Group International.
The ceremony at the project site was attended among others by a number of businessmen, officials and community representatives. Speaking on the occasion, M A Yousuf Ali, Managing Director, Lulu Group International, said that the Dh 1-billion Avenue Mall is a joint venture of Lulu Group International and Silicon Oasis Authority.
"It will be another landmark shopping destination in Dubai and the Lulu Group is proud to be selected as the joint venture partner by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority. We hope to complete the project on time," he said adding that as a UAE resident for over four decades, he has witnessed the magnanimity of the UAE rulers.
"The UAE is the only country in the world to have a separate ministry for tolerance and happiness. For an investor, a strong government, peace, harmony and vision are important. The UAE rulers have provided these crucial factors," he added. With over 22.5 million square feet of retail space under its umbrella, 132 retail stores in 21 countries, Lulu Group is adding one more iconic shopping destination in Dubai.
