This week's surprise release is New Zealand action film The Dead Lands. What's particularly noteworthy about this film? It exclusively features New Zealand's indigenous residents the Maori in every role and, akin to 2006's Apocalypto being in the Yucatec Maya language, The Dead Lands' dialogue is also wholly Te Reo (Maori dialect).
Set thousands of years ago, a young warrior (James Rolleston) must leave what remains of his home after an ambush by the feared 'living dead' tribe leaves his group decimated and his father murdered. He ventures west to where the Dead Lands and the rival group lay, hungry for revenge.
Not much more is known about the plot, but it looks a decent watch if not a tad wooden in places.
IMDb gives it 6.3 and Rotten Tomatoes gives it 66%
