UAE Ambassador opens Shaikh Zayed Park in Lebanon

Sidon - Former Lebanese PM said that the park embodies the fraternal relations, co-operation and friendship between both countries

A public park has opened in Sidon, Lebanon, thanks to its being funded by donors in the UAE.
Hamad Saeed Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon, officiated at the opening of the Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Park in Sidon, funded through a donation by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, KF.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Fouad Siniora, former Prime Minister of Lebanon, Mohammad Saudi, Sidon Mayor, Director of Humanitarian and Development Affairs Attache, Counsellor Musallam Obaid Al Mansouri, and others.
In their speeches, the participants hailed the UAE's charitable and humanitarian role provided to the Lebanese people in various domains.
After playing the Lebanese and UAE's national anthems, Saudi extended his thanks and appreciation to the Khalifa Foundation for this generous donation, praising the legacy of the late Shaikh Zayed and his efforts to establish a modern country, which has become among the world's pioneering countries thanks to the far-sighted vision of the UAE Rulers.
He added that the park embodies the fraternal relations, co-operation and friendship between both countries, and it would remain immortal in the minds of the population of Sidon. He also extended thanks to the Khalifa Foundation for its distinguished contributions across Lebanon, noting the UAE's support for displaced Syrians.
In his speech, Siniora hailed the UAE's charitable achievements represented in generous donations to Lebanon, such as the Shaikh Zayed Park. He added, "Let me express my happiness and pride on the occasion of the opening of the Shaikh Zayed Park."
Al Shamsi noted that the park seeks to improve the living conditions and ensure a healthy environment for the public. He further indicated that this vital project is part of a number of development programmes carried out by the Khalifa Foundation across Lebanon, which translates into actions the strong ties between the two countries.
He also extended thanks to those who contributed to the success of the project.
