Artistic swimming started to flourish in the UAE after the World League was hosted in December last year at the Hamdan Sports Complex
Competition turned out to be fierce with all 26 partnerships looking to take the prize for either the betterball stableford front 9 or shambles stableford back 9.
Leading the front 9 charge with a staggering 28 points over the 9 holes was Alistair Seivewright and Emma Lomax; the pair managed to avoid any one pointers and even picked up four 4 point holes to produce such a great score.
The back 9 shambles stableford award went to Nabin Rai and SGSC junior Omar Karim, a super score of 24 points was only good enough by virtue of a scorecard countback from 2 other partnerships; however a nett eagle and 3 nett birdies over the last 6 holes helped them to squeeze over the line in first place. A superb win especially for Omar Karim who was playing in his first-ever adult dominated competition.
The two other notable prize winners for the day were Peter Montgomery and Dirk Brewer who picked up the ‘Nearest The Pin’ and ‘Longest Drive’ awards respectively.
