Cigarette butts and short circuits have been cited as major causes for fire accidents. In high rise buildings, it is quite common to find people smoking in balconies and throwing the butts. Such acts should be monitored through CCTV and fines should be imposed. Smoking zones can be created in buildings. This will help prevent passive smoking and instill a sense of responsibility among smokers.Short circuits can be handled with proper maintenance. Precautions are taken and inspections are done only after an accident occurs. If it becomes a regular exercise probably fire accidents could be averted.
