The Arabian Experience

Popular Lebanese singer Asmara will be keeping guests entranced over at Al Hadheerah, a picturesque restaurant adjoining the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, tonight (April 17). The exquisite Arabian theatrical performance will begin at 7pm and will include a horse show and other traditional Arabian entertainment. Asmara will take the stage at 9pm, and with a host of backup dancers and a band, keeping audiences well-entertained. Dinner per person is Dh695, inclusive of Arabic coffee and soft drinks. Talent Hunt

This one’s for all aspiring filmmakers! Leading marketing firm BrandMoxie has recently launched The Smovies, a platform for short film competitions, with its newly announced strategic partner, VOX Cinemas. The Smovies will run three seasons of competitions, focusing on a variety of themes — from National Day to road safety. The first competition will run for about a month, and the winner of the competition will be awarded a prize of Dh10,000. GQ over at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel is on a mission to support the art scene in the UAE. From April 15 to April 22, it will be showcasing artwork by artists Musab Abdul Qader Al Rais, Abdel Fattah Hraoui, and Niveen Ezz Eldeen. Emirati artist Musab Abdul Qader Al Rais is known for creating multi-coloured layers and Moroccan artist Abdel Fattah Hraoui is renowned for using non-traditional imagery for his art. Niveeen Ezz Eldeen is a young Jordanian artist who creates wonders with acrylic colours. Their paintings are colourful, unique and a must-see for all art aficionados!
