An Emirati student has died in a horrific traffic accident in the United States, Indiana State Police said.
Twenty-year-old Suhail Saif Suhail Humaid Alderei was killed in a road crash after his car was hit by another vehicle driving in the wrong direction, said a police statement.
Ali Saif Alderei, Suhail's brother, said the UAE embassy took all necessary steps to investigate the case, and assisted the family in repatriating his body to Al Ain city. His funeral took place at 6.30am on Wednesday.
Alderei was pronounced dead at the scene while the second passenger was transported to Franciscan Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver who caused the accident, Anna Warner, 21, from Beaverville, Illinois, was also killed in the accident.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the fatal crash.
