For a while it seemed Angry Babies in Love, starring Anoop Menon and Bhavana, which is out in UAE theatres today, and directed by Saji Surendran, had no takers.

And then director Lal Jose came along, picking the movie up for distribution. The film, which opened to moderate acclaim critically, is a box office success. Perhaps the film’s biggest plus is that it comes with few expectations.

Director Saji Surendran, who minted money with a string of comedies, several of them mediocre adaptations of equally mediocre Bollywood films, has joined once again with his regular script-writer Krishna Poojappura for Angry Babies.

So what audiences can expect are some crackling one-liners, a breezy story that doesn’t pull you down with emotional overload, and a watch-it-forget-it entertainment quotient. The film charts the romance of Jeevan (Anoop Menon), an aspiring photographer, and Sara (Bhavana), their marriage against their families’ wishes, and the marital discord that follows when they start living together in Mumbai.

While the story offers little by way of novelty, Angry Babies could be a one-time watch this Eid. After all, who doesn’t like a little bit of mindless fun? (Deepa Gauri)
