Private mother and child hospital opens
Brightpoint Royal Women’s Hospital started accepting outpatients in July last year but opened the delivery suites this month with its first birth delivered on May 7.
Abu Dhabi — The capital’s first private mother and child hospital has now opened its inpatient services, adding to the much-needed birthing care in the emirate.
Brightpoint Royal Women’s Hospital started accepting outpatients in July last year but opened the delivery suites this month with its first birth delivered on May 7.
“We have 100 adult and baby beds,” said Dr. Anselma Ferrao, BrightPoint’s medical director.
Brightpoint currently has around 3,000 women consulting with them and anticipates at least 1,500 deliveries in the first 12 months reaching to over 2,000 the next year.
Dr Ferrao, who is also a consultant for gynaecology, lactation and obstetrics, said that Brightpoint can accommodate 15 to 20 patients a day. Current waiting time for appointment is between two to three days. “However urgent requests can be accommodated immediately.”
In addition to pregnancy, and mother and child health, Brightpoint also provides specialist services for teen and women diseases and medical care.
Outpatient services include pre-pregnancy counselling; prenatal, postnatal care and lactation consultation, maternal education programme; care of high-risk pregnancies; and gynaecology service such as management of ovarian, cervical and uterine disease, contraception, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, infertility, incontinence and hormone replacement therapy.
“The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is committed to providing a broad scope of outpatient and inpatient services by adopting best medical practices guided by evidenc-based medicine and supported by state of the art infrastructure and facilities,” Dr Ferrao explained.
A subsidiary of NMC Healthcare, Brightpoint is located in Muroor Road and offers a combination of standard, VIP and lavishly decorated royal suites for inpatient stay.
