Work begins on 3rd French school in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi - Presently there are 6,000 French citizens living in Abu Dhabi and 14 per cent of them are below 20 years.

Construction of a new French school is about to start on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat island, planned to receive its first students in the beginning of 2017/2018 academic year.
The new school is a second branch of Lycée (Highschool) Théodore Monod and will bring the total number of French schools in the emirate to three.
"The new school is being built in response to the needs of French and Francophone community in Abu Dhabi, which is growing about 10 per cent annually," said Michel Miraillet, French ambassador in Abu Dhabi.
Presently there are 6,000 French citizens living in Abu Dhabi and 14 per cent of them are below 20 years.
"Three languages and three cultures - French, English, and Arabic - openness to the world, use of new technologies, and pursuit of excellence are the central components which shape the identity of the school," pointed out the ambassador.
"We hope to reach a capacity of 2,000 students. To start with, we will have students up to grade 10, but later on we will add grades 11 and 12," Vincent Gorse, principal of the new Lycée Théodore Monod told Khaleej Times.
