Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research has issued directives to organise a seminar. The seminar will look into the best ways to enhance the quality of information technology in the country’s higher education institutions.

The seminar comes as part of the electronic transformation initiative. It will be held on Monday at the Dubai Police Academy, and will be attended by over 120 representatives from different higher education institutions.

Dr Badr Aboul Ela, the Director of the Ministry’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) said that the seminar will provide the participants with a broader outlook of the opportunities offered by Ankabut network for collaborating, communicating and expanding connectivity to education networks around the world.

Ankabut provides high capacity, high-speed broadband connectivity and offers transfer of real-time services such as converged IM, voice and video communication, time-critical services and grid computing interconnect (cloud computing).

Dr Fahem Al Nuaimi, Ankabut’s Chief Executive Officer said that these initiatives are aimed at establishing and offering academic institutions connectivity with other education networks around the world.

“Such interaction among the higher education institutions is poised to have positive impact on the quality of both the education and the information technology services,” he added.
