The incident came to light when the Operations Room of the Dibba police station received a call from the management of the mall suspecting the strange behaviour of a “woman” who was continuously moving about the place asking questions, showing weird gestures while withdrawing money from the ATM machine.
When the suspect felt that he was under surveillance and as he noticed the police arriving, he tried to leave the place hastily. The policemen, however, managed to arrest him.
During interrogation, the police found that the suspect’s voice was that of a man. He was detained in a room and the police summoned a woman guard to frisk him. He, however, confessed to being a man posing as a woman. The police arrested the suspect, H.R.A., who is in his 30s. When interrogated, he said he had put on a woman’s robe (abaya), and ‘khimar’ (face veil) and shoes giving an impression of a woman. Police also recovered the money he withdrew from the ATM using a credit card that belonged to someone else.
The accused failed to justify his disguised act. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution. — news@khaleejtimes.com
