According to an Ajman police official, the accident was reported to the police at around 9am, when the girl was trying to cross the road located near the Emirates souq at the new industrial area.

“The girl is currently admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. The accident was caused when the girl was crossing the road from an undesignated pedestrian area. She did not look to see if the road was free of vehicles and before crossing the road, and a speeding car hit her and causing severe injuries.”

The girl was immediately transferred to the Khalifa Hospital and the driver of the car that hit her was taken to police custody to complete investigations.

The official said that despite frequent warnings to pedestrians to avoid crossing roads from undesignated areas some pedestrians insist on endangering their lives by crossing the road thinking speeding cars will stop for them.
