The Ras Al Khaimah Civil Court has rejected an Arab man's plea to order the father of his ex-wife to pay him Dh435,000 which he claimed to have spent on buying him a car.
In his plea, the man told the court that he gave Dh435,000 to his wife to buy a car for her father while they were still married. “She also sold the jewellery I bought her to pay for the car,” he claimed.
The man added that he bought a car for his ex-wife’s brother as well.
“I also paid for the maintenance works of my ex-wife’s father, who I used to support with monthly cash assistance since my 11-year-old marriage.”
However, the man failed to substantiate his claims with witnesses, bills or any documents.
Instead, he requested the court to order his former wife’s father to respond to his argument.
The father denied the man's contentions, and called them “baseless claims”. He affirmed that he did not take any money from his daughter’s ex-husband.
Based on the father’s under-oath denial, the court turned down the man's allegations which he failed to prove, and ordered him to pay the court charges.
