On Monday, the criminal court ordered the man be deported after his release. He faked the stamp in order to forge an automobile export certificate so he could sell and export the 4WD.

Records showed that he visited a rental shop to hire the a Range Rover for Dh1,000 per day, submitting a driving licence, passport and credit card. He called the office the next day requesting a two-day extension on the hire.

On day three, the company who owned the car tracked the vehicle in Oman and contacted the rental office asking why the car had left the country. The rental office then lodged a complaint with the police and the car was successfully intercepted in Oman.

The man had sold the car for Dh140,000, giving the buyer forged documents required for export. He was arrested in Dubai and a stamp matching that of the RTA’s was found in his possession. It was later revealed that the papers the accused handed over to the rental office did not belong to him. — news@khaleejtimes.com
