The Central Operations Room, having been alerted of the accident, dispatched police, traffic and rescue patrols to the scene, and the victims were pulled out of the wrecked car.

According to a senior officer, the victim sustained severe injuries as a result of the crash and passed away on the spot.

Colonel Abdullah Ali, Director of the Traffic and Patrol Department, RAK Police, said the Emirati mother was driving the vehicle, but suddenly lost control over the steering wheel and ran into a nearby tree.

“The boy died instantly whereas the mother was shifted to the hospital,” he said. Col. Ali urged all motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations to protect the life of other road users and their own: “Parents should also pay more attention to children’s safety, place them at the back seat, buckle them up, and be more focused on the road.”

On January 11, three Gulf women and an Emirati man died while two other women received serious and moderate injuries in two separate accidents in Ras Al Khaimah.
