DUBAI - The 12th Shyam Bhatia Annual Awards Ceremony took place at Bhatia’s cricket museum in Jumeirah on Monday evening, with guest of honour Kapil Dev handing out the accolades.
Individuals to receive recognition on the night included the best all-rounder, batsman and bowler in Divisions One and Two, whereas three juniors in inter-school, U16 competitions held by the Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah Cricket Councils were winners as well.
Shruti Pathak Pandey became only the second recipient to be crowned the Best Women’s Cricketer of the UAE award, while representatives from the four Cricket Councils — the aforementioned trio and Ajman — and media organisations, including Khaleej Times’ very own Pradeep Adur, also received mementos for their continued support for UAE cricket overall.
Umpires from the four organisations each took home a cash award of Dhs 1,500 for their own performances in overseeing competitive games to boot.

Best Bowler: Mohamed Mashood (Nucaf Tellicherry), Cash award: Dh1,500. Special Award to the Best Women’s Cricketer of the UAE: Shruti Pathak Pandey, Cash award: Dh1,500. Best Junior Cricketer in the Inter-School, U16 from Abu Dhabi Cricket Council: Bikramjeet Singh (Sherwood Academy), Cash award: Dhs 1,000. Best Junior Cricketer in the Inter-School, U16 from Dubai Cricket Council: Shorye Chopra (Modern High School, Dubai), Cash award: Dh1,000. Best Junior Cricketer in the Inter-School, U16 from Sharjah Cricket Council: Siddarth Sekhar (Delhi Private School), Cash award: Dh1,000. Best Umpire nominated by the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council: Shahbaz Ahmed. Best Umpire nominated by the Ajman Cricket Council: Razzak Shah. Best Umpire nominated by the Dubai Cricket Council: Bahadur Ali Khan. Best Umpire nominated by the Sharjah Cricket Council: Arshad Ansari, Cash award: Dh1,500 each.
