The experienced all-rounder first snared two wickets for 36 runs and then hammered an unbeaten 65 off 100 balls with three fours to help his side see off a determined challenge from the Desert Cubs with 21 balls to spare.

Desert Cubs, batting first after winning the toss, did well to post a competitive total of 236 before being all out in the 48th over. Indika top-scored with 56 off 65 balls which included two fours. Gyan (44), Oshadha (32), Eranga (30 not out) and Malintha Perera (21) also made useful contributions to the total.

Experienced Amjad Javed bowled well for Fly Emirates, taking four wickets for 64 runs while Fernadez and Mohammed Iqbal picked up two each to prevent Desert Cubs from running away with the initiative.

Fly Emirates, in reply, batted sensibly to achieve the victory target in the 47th over. Besides Fernadez who paced his innings according to the situation, Mohamed Imran also played well, remaining not on 33 off 29 balls with five fours.

Amjad Javed (24 off 25 balls), Mohammed Iqbal (23 off 25 balls) and Dhananayke (21) were the other main scorers for Fly Emirates. Prasanna took three wickets for 49 runs while Eranga picked two for 48, but their efforts only tended to delay the inevitable.
