The Nissan Gulf Cup tournament is being organised by Young Talents Cricket Academy under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

Batting first, Durham rallied from a middle-order collapse to post an imposing 179 runs for six wickets and later restricted DPS YTCA to a paltry 95 runs for seven wickets in the 25-over match.

Durham were well served by their opening batsman Sean Tindale, who scored an unbeaten 77 while Jack McBeth (36) also wielded the long handle.

Durham were tottering with top five top-order batsmen back in the pavilion with just 45 runs on board. But a superb 90 runs six wicket partnership between Tindale and McBeth restored stability to the visitor’s innings.

Tindale hit seven boundaries during his unbeaten knock while McBeth hit the ball past the ropes on four occasions. A Hicket also added to the total with a fine unbeaten knock of 19 runs, as he added 44 runs with Tindale for the unbroken seventh wicket partnership. For DPS, Adil Tahir picked up two wickets.

DPS YTCA failed to make a match of it as they never really recovered after being four wickets down for 37 in the first 10 overs. Hicket (2 for 9), S McCabe (2 for 19) and S Male (2 for 16) bowled an inspired spell to keep the DPS YTCA batsmen on the back foot. Tanmay (21) and Salman (18) were the only DPS YTCA batsmen to shine.

In an under-13 match, Abdullah Khan’s brilliant unbeaten knock of 82 runs helped DPS YTCA beat Desert Cubs by 49 runs.

Batting first, DPS YTCA posted 160 for four in 20 overs. M Afazal was the other batsman to shine.

In reply, Desert Cubs scored only 111 for five wickets in 20 overs.

In the University Elite Cup 25-over match, Manipal University defeated Preston University by 15 runs.

Manipal, batting first, chalked up 181 for 8 wickets and later bundled ou

Preston for 165 in 24.3 overs.

Glickson Correa and Adil Ahmed starred for Manipal with a 50-run opening partnership. Nigel Rodrigues (34) and Prakash Gurbani (30 not out) also added to Manipal’s total.
