The under-17 team from the Durham County Club fielded a team replete with talent, enthusiasm and skill, a press release said.

In response, the Dubai school stood up to the task and produced a fine display of cricket to secure victory from the jaws of defeat.

In the first innings, the Durham U-17 team scored 153 runs in the allotted 25 overs, by virtue of a fine batting display.

The Modern High innings began on an unexpected note as the school lost two wickets for 17 runs, and at the end of 10 overs, the team had been reduced to 56-4.

Kurt Pereira stood up to the task and almost single-handedly revived and brought to life the Dubai Modern High School innings.

His sublime knock of 92 was one resplendent with textbook precision, aggression, dominance and moreover, one characterised by a fighting spirit and a dogged determination.

Modern High completed the victory with a little more than two overs.

The Dubai school players learnt a lot from the Durham U-17 team and from the accompanying English batsman, Jeff Cook, the release added.
