DPS Sharjah enter semis

DUBAI - DPS Sharjah defeated Indian High School Dubai by 31 runs to enter the under-17 boys’ cricket semi-finals of the 5th Pepsi Vision Cup 2011 UAE inter-school cricket tournament, organised under the aegis of Sharjah Cricket Council.

DPS posted 185/ 4 in 25 overs. Saurabh Gir dictated terms with a magnificent 52 not out of 32 balls, including six fours and one six. Aakarsh Malhotra gave him good support by contributing 42 runs of 30 balls, and the two were responsible for generating 101 runs, the tournament new partnership record for the fifth wicket. For IHS, Jay took 2 wickets for 10 runs.

IHS never really got going in their run chase and stumbled at 154/5 in 25 overs. Harsesh (33), captain Abhijeet Shankar (38) and Jai Joshi (33) were among the runs for IHS but their efforts failed to pay off. Devendu took 3 for 24 runs. Earlier, Dubai Modern High School defeated Indian High School RAK by 68 runs. Modern High Dubai scored 161/9 and then bowled out IHS RAK for 93.

DPS Sharjah got past IHS Dubai by 66 runs in a under-13 tie.

DPS posted 114/6 in 20 overs before making short work of IHS, skittling them out for 48 runs in 7.5 overs.

Dubai Modern beat IHS RAK. Dubai Modern 161-9 in 25 overs (Shorey Chopra 55, Anjanaye 17, Yash 13; Tejinder 4 for 28, Salman, Rohan, Afsal (1 wicket each) vs IHS RAK 93 all out in 18 overs (Tejinder 26, Dominic 26,Summet 14, Sanjay 14, Jermy 13; Shreyas 3 for 19, 2 Abshiek 2 for 13, Vishal 2 for 22, Varun 1 for 6).
