The UAE ranks first in the world in the distribution of daily doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. In the past seven days, the UAE’s daily dose rate is 1.16 per 100 people. Overall, the UAE’s dose administration rate is 20.8 per 100 people — second globally after Israel.
The country also ranks fifth in the world when it comes to the availability of vaccine, after the US, China, UK and Israel.
The UAE has administered over 2.06 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine as on Tuesday, January 19.
In the weekly Covid-19 briefing, Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management (NCEMA), said the country’s vaccination campaign is one of the most important national initiatives.
Urging people to get vaccinated, Dr Al Dhaheri said: “We call on all community members to receive the vaccine at the nearest health centre ... in order to reach the required targets in the fastest time. Our best way to recover is to take the vaccine.”
Education goes online
A spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Hazza Ibrahim Al Mansouri, said the education sector responded to the crisis by adopting the distance learning education model.
Since the start of the second semester, schooling has gone online in a bid to protect students.
“We have the ability to respond quickly in the smooth transition between real learning and distance one for about 1.2 million students.
“With time, our country is becoming more unique and successful through the availability of a high-tech smart educational structure and skilled educational cadres,” he said.
The official also called on education sector employees to take the vaccines.
Business continuity management system
During the briefing, Dr Al Dhaheri also announced the launch of the third edition of the National Standard for Business Continuity Management System. The document, he said, is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the business community in the UAE to face emergencies.
