Swiss firm Jaquet Droz on Wednesday launched a unique watch, Bird Repeater Falcon, costing almost Dh2 million. It is the most expensive piece at its sole regional outlet in The Dubai Mall. In addition, it also launched the Grande Seconde Moon Dubai Limited Edition, of which it has produced only 28 pieces worldwide.
"We're launching the Repeater Falcon to pay tribute to the UAE's culture and tradition. We wanted to create a unique piece to show that we are very close to clients and their traditions. We take inspiration from the culture and nature of countries. Repeater Falcon is a piece of art and available only in The Dubai Mall," said Christian Lattmann, CEO, Jaquet Droz.
"The Bird Repeater Falcon costs Dh1.97 million. The price depends on the level of finishing. Watches like Bird Repeater Falcon are very exclusive, all made by hand," Lattmann said.
"There are two hammers which will ring the time like a big clock. But it is complicated to do it at a small level. It is very miniaturised, only very few watchmakers produce these kind of watches," he said, adding that customers who love art, tradition, culture and beauty will love this watch.
"Dubai pushes all brands to do better and introduce more luxury and unique products. The emirate also pushes the boundaries of creativity in all that it does. For us, Dubai is an example to try and push the boundaries of creativity in the art of watchmaking," he added.
The CEO said that demand for watches among high-net-worth individuals in the Dubai and the UAE is growing.
