Liberty Automobiles demonstrated the technical edge of its service technicians when it scooped three of the top ten positions in the General Motors Middle East Technician Skills Competition 2015 held at the Dubai Autodrome recently.
Four Liberty technicians who successfully completed the gruelling elimination rounds were among the 40 shortlisted technicians from the Middle East GM dealers. Liberty stood out as the only UAE dealership to win awards in this year's competition; the rest were from the Middle East region.
The three winning technicians were Gayan Perera (second position), Herath Kasun (7th position) and Namal Jayawardhana (8th position). Liberty technicians scooped 33 per cent of the top ten honours in the competition.
The victorious technicians were felicitated at a function attended by Shaikh Khalid Abdulaziz Al Qasimi, chairman of Liberty Group and senior managers from Liberty Automobiles.
"This outstanding performance demonstrates that the motto 'Fix it right first time' has been ingrained in our technicians, thus ensuring the ultimate service experience to our customers," said Rimon Hanoush, general manager service, Liberty Automobiles Company.
"We believe this recognition will give added confidence to our customers who can rest assured that their vehicles are in competent hands."
This year's competition attracted 2,007 service technicians, from 13 participating authorized GM dealerships, from across the Middle East, competing with each other. The challenge was to quickly diagnose and fix technical issues in test vehicles under the watchful eyes of the judges.
Liberty Automobiles' technicians have been excelling in this competition year after year. Last year too, three Liberty technicians figured in the top ten. In 2013, Liberty's Gayan Perera was declared Best Dealer Technician for the second consecutive year.
The GM Dealer Technician Skills Competition conducted by General Motors, and first held in 2008, is the largest competition of its kind in the world.
