PIA gets another A320 in its fleet on dry lease

The country’s flag carrier is in the process of acquiring new generation fuel-efficient aircraft in its fleet

Dubai: Pakistan International Airlines, or PIA, has received delivery of its third A320 aircraft acquired on long-term dry lease from General Electric, or Gecas. The aircraft landed at Islamabad International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

The country’s flag carrier is in the process of acquiring new generation fuel-efficient aircraft in its fleet. “Our aim is the revival and restructuring of PIA, as per the vision of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The induction of latest technology fuel efficient aircraft is part of the revival strategy,” special asistant to Prime Minister on aviation Shujaat Azeem said at simple ceremony held at Islamabad airport on the arrival of the A320 aircraft. Azeem said that this A320 aircraft will be put into operation immediately. He also introduced new chairman of PIA Nasser Jaffer to the media. Speaking on this occasion, Jaffer said that with the induction of these latest technology fuel-efficient aircraft, the airline will be in a better position to offer services to its passengers and improve the flight schedule of the airline.
