The exhibition which began on September 14, concluded on September 17. It received 16,263 visitors on the first day, while on the last day the number of visitors reached up to 30,653 people.
Shaikhs and ministers who visited the ADIHEX on its concluding day included Shaikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Minister of Environment, Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd and Shaikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Shaikh Majid also visited the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company ‘Masdar’ and highlighted the importance of the contribution made by it towards the development and deployment of renewable energy and clean technologies, both locally and globally.
Shaikh Majid drove one of the cutting edge Masdar/ Mitsubishi electric vehicles (i-MiEV) to the campus of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MI) and expressed his support for sustainable transport solutions that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of his visit to the Masdar Institute, Shaikh Majid toured the laboratories and was briefed by professors and students on the research carried out as part of their academic work. The tour included a visit to the ‘Clean Rooms’ which are used to support the educational and research needs of the Microsystems Engineering Master’s programmes.
Shaikh Majid also toured Masdar’s 10MW solar power plant, which serves to supply Masdar Institute’s energy demands. On this occasion, Shaikh Majid said: “Backed by the visionary leadership of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we are confident that the UAE will continue on its steadfast path of setting ambitious goals for providing its people with all the requirements of growth and prosperity. This includes far reaching plans to ensure energy security.”
