With Speakers, the way it usually works is the smaller they are the worse the sound is. That is not the case with the Razer Ferox mobile speakers.

Producing impressive sound as well as displaying clever design solutions, the Ferox speakers are suitable for gamers more so than music listeners. At $60, you can certainly find cheaper mobile speakers but for the size I doubt the Ferox can be beat on sound quality. Although Ferox is aimed at portable gaming systems like Nintendo DS and Sony’s PSP, the speakers will work with just about any system that has a standard 3.5mm audio jack, like most MP3 players and smartphones.

The Ferox are battery-operated and charges via USB cable. To turn them on, just gently press the top plate and it will slowly rise up a bit and a blue circle of light comes on at the bottom. These are stylish speakers, which also deliver in terms of sound. Perhaps not surprising due to the diminutive size, Ferox doesn’t have much solid response in terms of bass, but in the rest of the range the sound is very good.

Appropriate for portable speakers, Razer has thrown in a small pouch for you to carry the Ferox around in.
