"The seven multi-storey parking facilities built by the Department of Municipalities and Agriculture in overcrowded residential areas in the capital have provided 4,500 parking spaces. Some 4,000 parking spaces were also added by the development of the Abu Dhabi corniche project," the official said after opening a new parking facility.

As a gesture to the motorists, the parking services wil be free of charge for two weeks from yesterday, he said.

Eng. Al Qubaisi said the department had issued a resolution two years ago making it mandatory for owners of new buildings to provide occupants with enough parking lots.
