One dies in fall from mountain

RAS AL KHAIMAH — One worker died and another was injured on Monday morning in the Wadi Al Nakab in Ras Al Khaimah when they fell from a rocky mountain. The two workers were reportedly on rock-blasting duty when the rock on which they were standing cracked and rolled down taking them along, causing the death of one and severely injuring another.

The deceased was identified as Anoop Kumal, 40, a Bangladeshi labourer. The injured person was identified as Amurut Kalmakar, 35, an Indian engineer. He was reportedly recovering in Saqr Hospital. A senior official from RAK Police said both were employees of a RAK-based technical drilling and blasting company.
