Bold and Beautiful is the only way to describe Proenza Schouler's Spring Summer 2016 collection that took to the ramp in New York  last evening.
This 13 year old label, took us to Spain, for one the best collections of the week. Red, ruffles, pom- poms and broderie anglaise embroideries, gave taste of the Mediterranean. Tailoring was strong. Cut outs and bare shoulders added a sensual element, and ribbons used as accessories and as fastening on jackets, tops and dresses  meant there was just the right amount of details.
This was a masterclass on how to combine sartorial style with fun finesse.
For Bibhu Mohapatra it was also about  a softer take on tailoring as he showed his collection New York Fashion Week. This Indian-American designer use of dusty pinks, greys combined with sumptuous fabrics, elegant beading was about total modern luxe.
His muse for the collection was nomadic Swiss journalist Annemarie Schwarzenbach. With geometric reference, and there was there was a quite play with shape.

The  designer famous for dressing Michelle Obama during her recent trip to India, has always had a flair for beautiful day dresses and  long evening gowns but this year it was trousers that really stood out, in crepe they would look perfect on a modern day Katherine Hepburn.
