Airline sources said that there was no disruption of any flights from Dubai to Khartoum following reports that the Khartoum airport was closed on Saturday following an explosion on an army truck carrying ammunition. “Flights between Dubai and the Sudanese capital have generally not been affected by the incident,” sources confirmed, urging people not to panic.

Nashwa, a Sudan airways official from Sharjah, said that no flights were either delayed or cancelled due to the incident on Saturday. An official from the Sudanese Consulate-General in Dubai quoted a Sudanese Army spokesman Osman Mohammed Al Qabash as saying that the blast that rocked the downtown Khartoum occurred in the vicinity of the military headquarters located near the airport. The airport was not shut but the streets around the airport and the place of the accident were cordoned off by police for safety. He assured that the flights are operating normally at Khartoum airport.
