Message for UAE Residents: Take Time off to Admire Simple Things of Life

dubai — People in the UAE must take time off their busy schedules and admire the simple things of life, says Dadi Janki, administrative head of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU). “Simplicity is to find beauty in the natural things in life, not be impressed by show.”

Clad in a white sari, and with pure white hair, Dadi Janki is an embodiment of serenity and peace.

She is also a remarkable teacher and mentor of global acclaim. She has been with the BKWSU for the last 72 years, and is one of its founding members.

Even at the age of 92, Dadi Janki travels all over the world to spread the message of peace and spirituality.

Dadi’s life is that of tireless giving. Through Raja Yoga meditation, Dadi has shown thousands of people how to regain true self-respect by becoming free of negative tendencies and making people capable of contributing more towards the society.

Speaking exclusively to Khaleej Times recently when she was on a visit to the Brahma Kumari Sabha in Dubai, Dadi Janki said the people of the UAE lead a very fast-paced lifestyle. She advised them to take time off from their busy life to admire the simple things in life.

“People here do not have time to cook food at home. They eat from outside. The taste of a home cooked meal gives an individual greater pleasure,” said Dadi who refuses to eat food that has been cooked by the other sisters of the BKWSU even now.

Moving to the state of women in the UAE today, she said, “Women are the embodiment of love and truth. There might have been a time when women were suppressed by their male counterparts.

“ If a man has to reach success today, he will need the help of a woman and it is only with her willpower and love that he shall succeed.”

Dadi added she sees great potential in the women here. Dadi Janki was recently awarded the Grand Cordon of the First Order of Al Istikial (the Medal of Independence) by King Abdullah II of Jordan. This was among the numerous other awards she has received for her services to mankind.

She said she feels humbled by the fact that she has been considered for these awards and she will continue to spread the word of peace.

“My strength and energy comes from a source within. People get tired and look old, when they worry and waste time worrying.

“The power in meditation helps one to tap the inner peace and this is the key to vitality and strength. The more you worry, the older you feel and look.”

On youth, she said the BKWSU conducts a lot of programmes for them. “I feel that they should incline themselves towards spirituality and it is very important to teach them to avoid bad habits. Cheating, defaming someone, telling lies and stealing should be curbed at a very young age.”

Her life’s aim is to restore peace and love in a world where there is so much chaos. “Love one another, with genuine compassion, not for the sake of achieving a purpose. As humans, we must not allow our souls to be corrupted by lies and ill thoughts. Since childhood, I haven’t tasted or known anything bad, and I don’t think I will for the rest of my life,” she said with a smile.
