The video showing the suspect speeding on a highway in Khor Fakkan quickly went viral. After the police verified the video, they tracked the suspect down and arrested him.

Major Mishaal bin Khadim, head of the traffic engineering department, Sharjah Police, had warned that exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than 80kmph in punishable with a Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points and 60-day impoundment of the vehicle. For exceeding speed limits by more than 60kmph, the fine imposed is Dh2,000 and 12 black points, apart from confiscation of the vehicle for 30 days.
