Starting off with a small business that earned them Dh7 on a daily basis, a Filipino couple worked hard to turn their meagre source of income into a lucrative one.
Reynante and Raquel Manimtim used to peddle baskets full or fried bananas and they earned 100 pesos from their sales (Dh7 approx). However, the enterprising couple took out a 25,000-peso loan (Dh1,700 approx) and bought a motorcycle. The enterprising couple then converted the motorcycle into a dimsum food cart and that's when the money started coming in.
According to ABS-CBN News, the Manimtims now own a fleet of 11 food carts earning them a whopping 45,000 pesos (Dh3,200 approx) every single day by selling dimsum. Talking about their success, Reynante was quoted in the report: "Nobody got rich serving a boss, that's why we started a business."
The success of their business paved the way for the couple to purchase their own house. But despite their income, Raquel says that they still maintain a practical lifestyle.
