I am one of those fashion girls, who are totally flummoxed by anything to do with technology. For years I resisted moving to the iPhone, as it just seemed too complicated. But with fashion going "insta", I needed to have the instagram app. So this January I finally bought myself the iPhone 6. Now I doubt I will ever go back to the Blackberry. I may move to the Samsung, as it takes better pictures.
There is no question, that technology has its benefits, I am able to watch fashion weeks from all around the world in real time thanks to live streaming, I read all my favourite style writers updates thanks to twitter, and shop any brand I want on-line. Fashion has embraced technology-and the new Hermes Apple Watch is a perfect example of that.
The Apple Watch is now a year old, and it probably was not the success that Apple had anticipated it would be. So now they hope to make the Apple Watch, fashion's new must have. French luxury brand Hermes stands for pure luxurious elegance, it is the fashion's most coveted design house. With watches starting at US$1,100 it is not the "Birkin" of watches, thankfully. It probably makes owing that Hermes, a little more accessible. It reflects that luxury has realized it needs to be less of a snob. The watches will come in single and double straps and in a variety of colours. Though Hermes signature orange will probably be the one to own. These watches go on sale in October, and remind us that fashion is not just about clothes, it is a reflection of the times we live in. And the fact is you can be as apprehensive as you want about technology, but today technology is a part of our everyday life.
