Asif sees no end to Pakistan's power crisis by 2018

He said although the government is striving hard to overcome the crippling energy crisis, yet it is impossible for the government to achieve the target by 2018.

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Mohammed Asif, has ruled out the possibility of end to the existing energy crisis by 2018.
He was talking to media persons here on Monday. He said although the government is striving hard to overcome the crippling energy crisis, yet it is impossible for the government to achieve the target by 2018.
Responding to a question, he said that presently country's rural and urban areas are facing six to eight hours loadshedding respectively and added that no loadshedding is taking place for industries.
Answering another question he said that 21 projects are giving production less than 50 per cent of their capacity and added that no project is able to give full production.
To a question, he said that the government has increased general sales tax (GST) from 16 to 17 per cent and added that the government is generating more than 18,000 megawatt of electricity.
