The show was inuaugurated by Rashid Al Humaid Al Mazoui, Executive Board Member of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). Abdul Rehman Al Mutaiwee, DCCI General Manager, was also present on the occasion.
The exhibition was organised by the UAE's stamp collectors' society in cooperation with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Pakistani stamp collectors' society.
Some of the coins, stamps and other artefacts on show date back to 1,000 years. These also include the earliest recorded envelope and the postal history of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Most of the coins and stamps exhibited are award winners worldwide and are jointly owned by the members of the both societies.
The exhibits include the first coin minted by the Islamic ruler, Al Khalifa Abdul Malik bin Marwan. Most of the coins exhibited are from the personal collection of Abdullah bin Jassim, Curator of Shaikh Saeed's House. Other exhibitors include Abdullah Jasim Al Mutewi, who exhibited Islamic coins, while Abdullah Khoory's exhibits included Dubai's Postal History.
