Action against schools with poor facilities

ABU DHABI — General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council, yesterday chaired the meeting of the Executive Council.

The council was briefed on the memorandum of the department of municipalities and agriculture in relation to private schools located in residential villas. Sheikh Mohammed instructed the council to take measures to ensure quality education in government and private schools at all stages.

He pointed out that the Department of Municipalities would take action against schools, which did not provide the appropriate facilities to their students, adding that highly proficient staff would be appointed to run education in the country and provide the concrete educational foundation for future generations. He said that poor level education could have negative effects in the long run and would be impossible to rectify later on. He affirmed that schools, which maintained high standard of education would be supported and those, which did otherwise, would be severly, dealt with.

The council discussed the prices of water and electricity units applicable at the current moment, whereby Sheikh Mohammed instructed the president of the council to economise in the consumption of water and electricity keeping in mind the condition of low income people when reviewing the prices of water and electricity in future.
