223,697 entry permits processed in Dubai under the new visa rules

DUBAI — The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) has issued 223,697 entry permits since the new visa rules came into force on July 29.

Major- General Mohammed Al Marri, Director of DNRD, praised the technical and professional personnel at the entry and residency permits section for the remarkable achievement.

Al Marri, was speaking after the annual routine tour of the section on Monday. He said the DNRD would continue to hone skills of its officials to bring the functioning of the department at par with international best practices.

The DNRD has assigned an emergency team to work during official holidays to handle all urgent on-line applications to avoid any service interruption or inconvenience.

Answering a query from the dnrd chief about applications of humanitarian cases during his visit to the on-line visa applications service, Major Mohammed Al Hamadi, head of the section, clarified that we have received 2,623 applications since last may but only eligible 1,524 applications have been processed.

According to him, the remaining transactions were not processed either for lack of documents or under process. —
