Meet 36 year old Bhoja Reddy, an employee of Union Paper Mills.
Bhoja Reddy, who collects used cartons and discarded papers from outside groceries, supermarkets and residential buildings in Sharjah, is fully focused on the education of his daughters back home in India. -KT photo God has blessed me with a good physique so that I could toil and earn a living for myself as well as my family, he says.
Back home, Reddy was a farmer who cultivated cotton, turmeric and maize on a small piece of land that he and his brother inherited from their father.
Reddy, who hails from Andhra Pradesh in India, has been in the UAE for the past 20 months, collecting used cartons and discarded paper from outside the groceries, supermarkets and residential buildings in Abu Shagara, Sharjah.
He works seven days a week, from 5:30am to 9:00pm, with a short lunch break. Surprisingly, he goes about his job without any complaint. Despite the harsh weather, he moves around his designated area on a bicycle or sometimes on foot, collecting paper and cartons that his company recycles.
Reddys dreams are simple and revolve around the success and happiness of his two daughters. His daughters are studying in a private school in his hometown, about 45km from Hyderabad.
