The follow up unit of Al Hamriyah Police seized 80 boxes of firecrackers on Friday while its owner was trying to get rid of it.
Another 68 boxes of firecrackers were seized yesterday in two different areas in Al Zubair district close to each other.
Following a tip off, Anjad patrol, Criminal laboratory officers, emergency unit and number of explosives experts went there to collect the firecrackers and transported them to the warehouses of emergency section. These will be kept there until the public persecution issues order to destroy it.
During the investigation, the police discovered that the type of the firecrackers found on Sunday was same as those found on Friday. The police were of the view that both stocks of firecrackers belonged to the same person.
The police are investigating the case to find out the culprits and bring them to justice.
Brigadier Salih Ali Al Mutawa, Director-General of Sharjah Police, urged all those in possession of firecrackers to hand over their stock to the police to ensure safety for themselves and others. “The police will help them destroy it safely,” he said.
