The Islamabad administration is contemplating registering cases against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and several other party leaders for violating election's code of conduct by holding a rally in the federal capital on Friday night while Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Siddiqui indicated similar action for leading a rally in the metropolis on Saturday afternoon.
Both Imran Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq arrived in Karachi on Saturday and were greeted at the airport by tens of thousands of workers and supporters. A large number of supporters also greeted their convoy on its way to the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam.

In Islamabad on Friday evening, Imran had defied virtual siege and dodged barricades erected by Islamabad police and Rangers to weave his way through fields and villages to reach the venue of the meeting at Tramri Chowk. Heavy contingents of police along with the anti-riot units were deployed at several places in the area.
Addressing a charged crowd, Imran said nowhere in a democratic country, the chairman of a political party is barred from meeting the people and presenting party programme and manifesto.
Officials of the capital administration and police told the media that initially it was decided that Imran would be intercepted and would not be allowed to reach the venue.
An official, who was present at the meeting, said Imran told the officials: "Your efforts to stop me may succeed but what about PML-N's Tariq Fazal Chaudhry who is leading rallies and corner meetings."
The PTI chief added: "The prime minister is announcing development packages during the election campaign, ministers are also addressing public gatherings, local MNA also does the same, the code of conduct is only for me."
Three cases were registered in the police stations of Golra, Kohsar and Secretariat against the PTI supporters and activists for taking out processions in violation of Section 144. - news@khaleejtimes.com
In Karachi, where PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami have joined hands to contest local government elections against the MQM which has remained dominant for past three decades, both Imran and Sirajul Haq claimed their alliance was meant to free the city from MQM's alleged strong-arm tactics, target killings, kidnappings and extortions.
The local government polls will be held on November 30 in Islamabad and December 5 in Karachi.
